BLUEBERRY FATIGUE

Ruth Noack, Sanja Ivekovic: Triangle

Cyclone Tracy, Three Steel Girders, 1974.

Although the study of rural masculinity could be taken to mean the mapping of different types of masculinity onto different types of rural space, a rather more interesting approach is interpretative, looking at masculinities as social constructions and the ways in which they draw from constructions of rurality.

Structural colour, the empty blue of the sky, is consigned lightly but intensely to the alert head of my cock, is the conscription of a masculinity to that which is as infinite and as expansive as etcetera. The sea, the horizon, etcetera. Blue doesn’t truly belong in a living body: highlighting the dangers of a shipmate falling into the sea wearing a sea-coloured uniform.
